Concrete pumping services to clients across the Midlands

Concrete pumps are used for relocating large volumes of liquid concrete from one area (often a truck) to another area (often the site location).
This method of moving concrete will only work with liquid concrete that has not yet set. A simple pressure pumping method is used to force liquid concrete along a boom or pipe and out into the location that the concrete is required.

There are two main differences in concrete pump design. One utilises a boom and the other a series of pipes to direct the concrete to the desired location. Although the two methods provide the same effect, they are suited to slightly different applications and have different advantages and disadvantages.

A truck mounted boom, as the name suggests, is a boom arm that is mounted on a truck. Concrete is pumped along the length of the boom arm at very high pressure. The boom arm is remotely controlled and can be used to great effect, enabling concrete to be deposited with a high degree of accuracy, exactly where it is needed.

Liquid concrete mix will solidify over time and harden to ridged, stone-like material. The process that is responsible for this hardening is known as hydration, when the water reacts with the cement which in turn bonds with the other components in the mixture and hardens. Commonly, concrete is used for applications such as architectural structures, foundations, motorways and roads, bridges and fly-overs, bricks and blocks, walls, gates, fences and pavements.

Concrete Pumping
The concept of pumping concrete is designed to reduce the number of man hours that are required to manually shift large quantities of concrete from one part of a site to another. Often, ready mixed wet concrete will be pumped directly into the exact location (be it foundations or walls) straight from the delivery truck, thus reducing the time and cost associated with both mixing and moving concrete.

Traditionally concrete would be mixed on site in a cement mixer, or even manually by hand. Once the wet mix is made it would then be loaded into a wheel barrow and wheeled across the site to the place where it is needed. Sometimes it may even be placed in a bucket and pulled up with a rope to higher locations. This type of work is difficult and can take more than one pair of hands. It can be a slow process and really add hours on to the time of the project, and as we all know, time is money.

Our method of pumping concrete can reduce the man hours out of this type of work. We will deliver as much ready mixed, wet concrete as you require. We will then use out boom arm to pump the concrete directly from the delivery truck to the place where the concrete is needed. There will be no shifting of heavy wheelbarrows full of wet concrete across the site anymore
